Tech: Tokyo Robot Show 2013

(The Next age robot)
The Next Age Robot

The day when we find ourselves surrounded by walking, talking, learning robots gets nearer and nearer. Couple that with self-driving cars and micro-drones and you could be forgiven for wondering what we’ll be doing for ourselves in a few decades’ time.
For now, at least, the robots on display at the Tokyo International Robot Exhibition are all designed to work with us, whether that’s in a factory, a hospital or a museum.
See Photos after the cut...

I selected some of the most advanced robots from the show.
(1) The Next age robot at work – here, picking up paper from one tray and moving it to another.
(2) The ORIN ATR-PONKO-X robot is controlled by an Android tablet – which also forms the bulk of its body
(3) Agile, flexible, and capable of learning new tasks, the NACHI Dual-arm concept is designed for sophisticated production-line tasks.
(4) The D-Hand A3 has independently controlled fingers with soft rubber tips and knuckles
I chose the 4 I think are cool.
Tell me what you think.
