Ogun state Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has reiterated the
commitment of his administration to constructing good and long lasting roads
across the state.
The
governor restated this commitment during the inspection of the 107km
Ilara/Ijoun/Tombolo/Egua/Oja-Odan road, assuring that "all roads will be
of international standard that will serve even the coming generation".
He
said further that some portions of the 107km road between Egua and Oja-Odan in
Ogun West, which are full of clay, needed special attention, pointing out that
similar problem was also encountered on Papalanto/Ilaro road.
"It
would not be proper for us to do a road that would be sinking in two or three
years. We have envisaged something of this nature and we are prepared to ensure
that the clay be removed by about 10 feet deep according to the engineers'
advice", he said.
The
governor affirmed that quality materials would be imported to replace the clay,
noting that "the 107km road under construction would enhance our strength
in agriculture when completed.
"This
road has been there for ages, but with our infrastructural drive, investors are
beginning to move to this area.
"This
is our low belt for rice where we gave Lagos 500 hectares of land and we have
also started working on 10,000 hectares to boost our agricultural production
capacity" Amosun added.
