PDP Warns Aides Against Commenting on Party Issues
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned personal aides of NWC members and unauthorised persons to desist from making comments on the party`s administration.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Olisa Metuh, the National Publicity Secretary of the party in Abuja on Monday.
Metuh disassociated the party`s NWC from a statement credited to Sen. Abubakar Gada, Special Adviser to the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
Gada, had in the statement suggested that Tukur and some PDP governors were at loggerheads over some political issues.
The PDP spokesman maintained that the comments credited to Gada ``does not in anyway represent the true state of affairs in the party’’.
"For the avoidance of doubt, the NWC enjoys harmonious relationship with our governors, Board of Trustee members, elders of the party and other key stakeholders with the national chairman," he said.
Beyonce Puts Surprise Album on iTunes
Beyonce has unexpectedly released her fifth album on iTunes overnight, with 14 new songs and 17 music videos.
The self-titled record is the follow-up to 2011's 4, and features guest spots from her husband Jay-Z and daughter Blue Ivy.
"Surprise!" wrote the 32-year-old in a press release, adding she was "bored" of releasing music the traditional way.
The instantaneous release means "I am able to speak directly to my fans," she continued.
It also means the pop star's record is one of the few major releases of recent years not to leak in advance.
Many records are leaked during the manufacturing and distribution stage - but Beyonce's record is currently exclusive to iTunes.
Physical copies only started pressing on Friday morning, and are expected in shops on 21 December.

Singer Bruno Mars was named Billboard's 2013 Artist of the Year by the industry trade magazine on Friday.
Hawaiian-born Mars, 28, topped eight of Billboard's year-end music chart lists, including the Hot 100 Artists, Mainstream Top 40 and Hot Digital Songs, and his 2012 album “Unorthodox Jukebox” has becoming one of this year's bestselling records with more than 1.8 million copies sold in the United States.
“Bruno did well in touring and I think longevity does really well for him. His songs stuck around on multiple formats all year round,” Bill Werde, editorial director of Billboard magazine, told Reuters.
“He's a powerhouse, and really keeps his focus on the music in a year where conversations have been dominated by [MTV's Video Music Award] performances and PR cycles.”
Grammy-winning Mars, whose music crosses between R&B and pop, has established a successful career as a singer and producer with The Smeezingtons, working on songs both for himself and other artists.

Ajimobi at 64, pleads for forgiveness
Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, has pleaded with whoever he might have wronged in the course of his governance of the state to use the occasion of his 64th birthday anniversary to forgive him.
This was just as he promised to rededicate the remaining part of his life to the service of humanity and put in all his best to ensure that the state is turned around for the better.
The governor stated this while speaking at his 64th birthday anniversary celebrations held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan yesterday. The occasion had earlier been preceded by thanksgiving services at the Government House Chapel and Government House Mosque, where special prayers were offered by Christian and Islamic clerics.
The ceremony was witnessed by eminent personalities including the Aare Musulumi of Ibadanland, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Arisekola Alao, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, Ambassador Olusola Saanu, Chief Kola Daisi, other eminent personalities, politicians, religious leaders, market men and women, as well as the ordinary folks across the state.
EFCC to arraign Ajudua for defrauding Bamaiyi of $8.3m
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will on February 12, 2014 arraign the serial fraudster, Fred Ajudua, before an Ikeja High Court over fresh charges of defrauding a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-General Ishaya Bamaiyi (rtd) of $8.395million.
EFCC in a fresh charge dated October 14, 2013, alleged that Ajudua, along with others still at large, had committed the crime between November 2004 and June 2005. Ajudua and Charles Orie are already being prosecuted since 2003 by the EFCC for allegedly defrauding two Dutch businessmen, Remy Cina and Pierre Vijgen, of US$1.69 million (about N270 million).
The anti-graft commission has instituted a 13 count charge of conspiracy and fraud against Ajudua. Ajudua is the only defendant in the fresh charge as others who allegedly committed the offences along with him are said to be at large. Other suspects, who were said to be on the run, are Alumile Adedeji (a.k.a Ade Bendel) and one Mr. Kenneth and Princess Hamabon William.
R&B Singer Chris Brown's Probation Revoked After D.C. Assault Charge
Brown pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault after the altercation left a 20-year-old man with a broken nose.
R&B singer Chris Brown had his probation revoked by a Los Angeles judge on Monday, but he was not taken into custody because of good reports on his progress in a court-ordered rehab program.
Brown, 24, had his probation revoked by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin during a progress hearing, after he was charged with assault in Washington, D.C. in October for punching a man who was trying to get a picture with the singer.
Brown pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault after the altercation left a 20-year-old man with a broken nose. He voluntarily served a two-week stay in a rehabilitation facility for anger management after his October arrest, but Brandlin ordered Brown to complete a 90-day substance abuse and anger management program in November.
Jonathan under pressure to slam corruption charges on Obasanjo
Indications have emerged that President Goodluck Jonahan was under pressure by his Ijaw kinsmen in the Niger Delta to compel the anti-graft agencies to initiate corruption charges against former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
It was learnt that the Ijaw leaders were of the opinion that the former president was becoming over-bearing and asked President Jonathan to tame him and other leaders of the opposition groups ahead of the 2015 general elections.
Findings showed that Jonathan was being prompted to probe the Obasanjo administration from 1999 to 2007 in order to whittle down the influence of the former head of state.
It was learnt that President Jonathan was asked to refrain from engaging in any verbal war with Obasanjo, but should direct the antigraft agencies to dust up some reports on his administration and initiate his trial for corrupt practices while in office.
The action, according to Jonathan’s kinsmen, should be designed o discredit the former president and dissuade him from galvanising the opposition towards Jonathan’s re-election.
Investigation further revealed that Jonathan was also advised to devise means of taming the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), especially former Head of State, Gen. Mohammed Buhari (rtd.) and former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
VIDEO ASUU Strike: ASUU Calls Off 5 Months Strike
ASUU Chairman, University of Lagos Chapter, Dr. Karo Ogbinaka told Channels Television that the union decided to suspend the strike after a marathon meeting held in Minna, Niger State capital on Monday.
In attendance at the meeting, which ran till late in the evening, were all the ASUU branch chairmen and secretaries, the national executive members of the body, coordinators and past leaders, including 56 members from 52 universities.
Dr. Ogbinaka said that, in line with procedures, the different chapters of ASUU would hold congress meetings on Wednesday to inform members and managements of the institutions of the latest development.
“We expect the students to resume and expect their members to go back to class immediately after the congress meeting and we expect the government to keep to the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU),” Dr. Ogninaka stated.
He said that the union and the government would hold meetings in 2014 to look at gray areas that may arise and come to a common ground.
The Federal Government and ASUU had reached a compromise during a negotiation brokered by the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar on Wednesday, December 11, which led to the signing of the MoU.
Speaking to journalists after the agreement with the government on Wednesday, the National President of ASUU, Dr. Nasir Isa Fagge, said that the union would consult with its National Executive Council and would intimate Nigerians of its decision on the strike within one week, expressing optimism that the outcome of the consultation would be positive.
It was gathered that the MoU addressed all the resolutions that the leadership of the ASUU and the Federal Government agreed to in their 13-hour meeting with President Jonathan on November 4, as well as their widely criticised fresh demands.

Boko Haram: Nigeria Imports Tomatoes from Benin
Importation of tomatoes from Benin Republic and other
neighbouring countries by Nigerians particularly across the Seme border
is on the increase following the Boko Haram insurgence in the North-
East of the country famous for tomato farming. As a result, the Nigeria
Customs Service (NCS) has collected over N5million baggage fees from
such imports in just two months.
A trip to Benin Republic by Financial Vanguard reporter, where tomato
farms are rapidly springing up showed that the import of the vegetable
has become a big business for both the producers in Benin Republic and
buyers of the produce in Nigeria.
During the visits to these farms in Benin Republic, it was discovered
that tomatoes produced in Benin are fleshier and do not decay easily
but stay longer than those produced in Nigeria. Confirming this to

market said that the fleshy species of tomatoes has less fertilizer as

Boko Haram Burnt 100 Houses in Borno
At least four people were killed and more than 100 houses burnt
down on Saturday when members of the Boko Haram, attacked Arboko village
behind Gwoza hills in Borno State.
The gunmen were said to have launched the attack around 2:30 am on
Saturday and overran the villages before dawn. The village is said to be
inhabited by a tiny Christian minority.
Executive Director, Stefanos Foundation, Mr. Mark Lipdo, said in a
text message on Saturday that cries by the villagers for help did not
yield any fruit, until they were completely overrun by the gunmen.

Video! 'Layaway Angel' Pays $20,000 at Walmart
In today's edition of the "Good Stuff," a financial planner helps 80 families pay off $20,000 in layaway debt. CNN'sChris Cuomo reports.
We've identified the 'angel' as Greg Parady. He was in Walmart buying bikes for "Toys for Tots" when he overheard a family in front of him say they wouldn't be able to pay off their debts until next year.
That's when he reached into his wallet to help pay half of every layaway balance above $200.
"I can't believe (his credit cards) didn't melt he was running them so fast," said Walmart operations assistant manager Deb Davis.

Men of the Ogun State Police command have arrested a-45-year-old man, Pastor Daniel Samuel for stabbing his wife over her refusal to attend church activities. Daniel, an Apostolic Church pastor was said to have used a cutlass to inflict deep cuts on his wife, Mrs Patient Samuel in her neck in Ogun State.
Funny enough, after Pastor Daniel attacked his wife with the cutlass, he alerted neighbours and lied that his wife was matcheted by some unknown men, and pleaded with them to help him take her to the hospital.

Senator Yerima divorces 17year old Egyptian wife, marries another 15yr old
Three years after marrying a 14 year old Egyptian girl named Marian, which was widely protested in Nigeria, former Zamfara state governor and serving senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, Sen. Ahmed Yerima, has reportedly divorced her to marry a new wife, City People reports. According to the magazine, Yerima and four men, said to be members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly were in Egypt a few weeks ago for the wedding fathia of a new bride said to be 15 years old.
Marian who is now 17 and a mother of one, is believed to be the daughter of the former governor's driver whenever he visits Egypt. The reason he divorced her is to enable him take a new wife as he's not allowed more than four wives. The new wife is also Egyptian.
APC Picks Tambuwal As Presidential Candidate?
If this happens, it means a top political office holder will be squaring up against Jonathan in 2015:
Though the speaker of House of Reps, Aminu Tambuwal had said he was not part of the meeting of leaders of the APC in Kano State governors lodge in Abuja last week, Daily Times has authoritatively gathered he was actually invited to the meeting and intimated of the decision to field him for the presidency in 2015.
"This is a big drama in the politics of this country. Whether they want it or not, we have massively suggested that Tambuwal is the best person for our presidential candidate and we will ensure it happens. We brought him to a venue where we are all present so that he would know that we are serious."
Our correspondent authoritatively gathered that Tambuwal had been invited to the meeting through one of the defecting governors. A source at the meeting revealed that because he could not stay till the end of the meeting, APC decided to communicate to him through his (Sokoto) state governor, Aliyu Wamakko.
Another Letter: Bayelsa Elders Say They're Not Feeling Impact of Jonathan's Government
President Olusegun Obasanjo is the first Nigerian president to prosecute his Secondary School friend, the man he appointed Inspector General of Police, a sitting Senate President, his serving Ministers, etc. But when some "idiots" want to talk on TV and Radio programmes, they will say Obasanjo do not have the moral right to write such a letter to President Goodluck Jonathan. How ridiculous!
Now President Jonathan's people have written to him complaining about the same lack of development:
"Whilst it takes the federal government the better part of the century to connect us by road, there exists a vast and expanding network of oil and gas pipelines across our territory connecting prolific oil wells to flow stations to export terminals and so on. JTF Police Officer Killed Newly Married Man In Port-Harcourt
Few days to the end of year 2013, another case of police brutality has been reported in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Nigeria.
Donbraye Akangbou, a newly married man has died after a police officer accidentally shot him on the stomach.
The employee of Lunberg Services Ltd located behind Coca Cola in Port Harcourt was settling a dispute when a Joint Task Force officer shot him at close range.
He died at BMH A & E hospital after his treatment was delayed due to lack of police report.
Donbraye Akangbou married on June 25, 2013. His three months pregnant wife is now a widow.
The JTF officer who killed him said he accidentally pulled the trigger while trying to hit someone with a gun on Wednesday.

If I Leave PDP, Jonathan Will Become Vulnerable ––Says Tukur
The battle for survival by the National Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, is getting serious as more PDP governors have vowed that he either step down or they will be left with no choice but to dump the party and join their colleagues in APC.
But Tukur is ready to fight to the end and he his describing himself as the best man to be there in the interest of President Goodluck Jonathan's 2015 ambition,claiming that those calling for his removal are plotting to make President Jonathan vulnerable to be defeated in 2015.
The PDP chairman wondered whether his "loyalty" to Jonathan is now a crime. Tukur's removal is considered one of the major conditions needed to restore peace to the troubled party.
Video: 2 of the 6 men who raped a 16 year old girl in Akure, paraded
Two of the six cult boys who raped a 16 year old secondary school student in Akure, Ondo State last week have been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
The men, said to members of a cult group known as Blue Angel, saw the girl as she was returning from school, they stopped her, took her to their hideout and raped her. All six of them. They recorded the act with a mobile phone and threatened to post the video online if she told anyone what happened.
Fortunately she did and two of the rapists, Wale Fadahunsi, 28, and Banji Olaseinde, 25, have been arrested, while four others are on the run. Those on the run include Tope Oluwole; Tope Jigan and Muyideen. The two that were arrested were paraded a few days ago where they confessed to raping the helpless girl whose identity is being concealed because of her age. Watch the video after the cut..

PDP IN TROUBLE: 7 More Governors To Dump Party For APC
The suit by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) asking a Federal High Court in Abuja to sack the G5 Governors for defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been faulted and dismissed as an exercise in futility.
“Now that PDP is at the receiving end of the same medicine they administered on others and they are window shopping for ways to have their cakes after devouring them. What a pity as about seven more PDP Governors will be joining APC by the first quarter of 2014 at that time they will be preparing on how to bury PDP formally by 2015.”
“The suit is laughable and betrays the ignorance of the PDP leadership about the laws of the land. It is also a further demonstration of the impunity associated with PDP in its disdain for democracy and due process,” erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of New PDP, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, said in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.
